About Sol

Is Sol a real therapist or counsellor?

No he is not and that is intentional. Sol is a sobriety companion. He is warm, knowledgeable, and trained in motivational conversation and recovery support. He is not a therapist, counsellor, psychologist, or medical professional of any kind. When something is outside his scope, he says so honestly and helps you find what you need instead.

Can Sol diagnose me, or tell me if I'm dependent on alcohol?

No. Sol never assesses or diagnoses. He will not tell you that you are an alcoholic, dependent, or that you have any condition. He reflects patterns and asks questions. The conclusions about what your drinking means belong to you.

Can Sol help me stop drinking?

Sol can support your journey toward sobriety - through conversation, reflection, motivation, and structured guidance if you want it. He cannot guarantee outcomes. He is not a substitute for medical or clinical treatment.

What does Sol do if I mention self-harm or suicide?

Sol will not minimise it or move past it. If you mention thoughts of self-harm or suicide, Sol responds directly and warmly - and gives you crisis support information immediately. He will not bury it in the conversation.

Your account and privacy

Do I need to create an account to use Solomon?

No. You can start talking to Sol immediately - no account, no sign-up, nothing required. Anonymous use is available for a limited number of messages. After that, Sol will offer to save your conversation. All you need to provide is a name and an email address.

Is my conversation private?

Yes. Your conversations are not read by the Solomon team. They are processed in real time by the AI system that powers Sol's responses. No one at Solomon reads your chats.

Does Sol remember me?

Sol can remember you between sessions - but only after you choose to save your chat by sharing your name and email. Before that, he has no memory of previous conversations.

How do I delete my data?

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. Email us with the subject line Data Deletion Request and the email address associated with your account. We will confirm deletion within 30 days.

Safety and medical

Is it safe to use Solomon if I'm physically dependent on alcohol?

Stopping drinking suddenly when physically dependent can be dangerous - in some cases life-threatening. Please speak to your GP before making any changes. Solomon is not appropriate as a standalone tool for people with severe physical dependency on alcohol.

Is Solomon a medical product?

No. Solomon is not a medical device, a clinical treatment, or a regulated health product. It is a support and companionship tool. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

Can under-18s use Solomon?

No. Solomon is designed for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18 and concerned about your relationship with alcohol, please speak to a trusted adult or your GP.

The app

Can I use Solomon on my phone?

Yes - Solomon is designed primarily for mobile use. It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android without needing to be downloaded from an app store. On iPhone, it is optimised for Safari.

Why is Sol asking for my name and email mid-conversation?

After around six messages, Sol will offer to save your conversation. This is the moment your memory and account are created. Sol explains what he's doing and why - it is not automatic or hidden. You can decline and continue as an anonymous user.

Something isn't working. What do I do?

Start with the troubleshooting section - it covers the most common issues including Sol not responding, missing conversations, and display problems. If you can't find an answer there, contact support and we'll get back to you within two working days.
