Diagnosis and dependency

Why Sol never diagnoses, and where to go if you want an assessment.

Written by David Henzell

Sol will never tell you that you are dependent on alcohol, that you are an alcoholic, or that you have any condition. That's not him being evasive - it's him being honest about what he can and can't do.

Why Sol doesn't diagnose

Diagnosis is a clinical act. It requires a trained professional, proper assessment, and the ability to explore the full picture of someone's health. Sol is none of those things.

What Sol can do is reflect patterns - help you notice things about your drinking, your triggers, your relationship with alcohol - and help you think about what they might mean to you. The conclusions are yours.

If you want a clinical assessment

Your GP is the right person to speak to. If you want to understand whether you have a physical dependency, or what your drinking pattern means clinically, that conversation should happen with a professional.
